Team Univ: Town and Gown 2025
On Sunday 11 May, an impressive 6,600 people took part in the annual Town and Gown 10k race, raising an impressive £300,000 for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
This year, the College was once again represented by Team Univ, the seventh largest College team taking part in the event. Team Univ consisted of 46 runners, including 38 students and eight staff members.
Both the WCR President, Ben Willis (2023, DPhil in History), and Vice President, Holly James Johnston (2019, DPhil in English) took part in the event and representatives from the JCR completed the event dressed as Martlets, an impressive feat given the warm weather on the day.
Team Univ’s first male runner to cross the finish line was Carlos Gonzales Perez (2021, Economics) – coming fifth overall, and the first female runner to complete the course was Olivia Pegge (2024, Earth Sciences).
The Town and Gown continues to be an inclusive event, welcoming runners of all abilities to take part in a scenic route around Oxford city centre and University Parks.
Grace Lane, Philanthropy Manager and runner with Team Univ, said: “The sun shone, the martlets were out and Univ delivered! Great fun to be part of Univ’s 2025 Town and Gown team and to achieve my first ever 10K run. The brunch in College afterwards was delicious and a great way to restore those lost carbs. Here’s to next year!”
Congratulations to all who took part in this year’s Town and Gown.
