The Garlic Farm, of which Natasha Edwards (1997, Economics) is Managing Director, has received a King’s Award for sustainable development.

The Garlic Farm have been growing speciality garlic on the Isle of Wight for over 50 years. The team have spent many years exploring garlic’s history and varieties, and creating delicious garlic-infused products, from chutneys and mayonnaise to black garlic ice cream and beer.

The Garlic Farm is on a mission to generate a “net positive outcome”, using socially and environmentally regenerative methods to care for the land and their community, and the King’s Award recognises their efforts. The farmland is certified by the Soil Association as Organic and they achieved B Corp status in 2023, joining a community of organisations dedicated to using business as a force for good.

The farm employs 100 local people and offers educational outreach to schools, the general public, and local businesses. The Garlic Farm prioritises carbon biodiversity conservation, implementing initiatives including multi-paddock grazing of livestock within the garlic rotation, woodland restoration, habitat creation, and soil regeneration.

The accolade recognises The Garlic Farm’s strong environmental and social impact measures. Natasha Edwards, Managing Director at The Garlic Farm, said: “We are honoured and humbled to have achieved this globally recognised mark of achievement. We’re incredibly grateful to our team, our customers and the farming community for their ongoing support as we continue on our nature-friendly farming journey.”

The Garlic Farm team welcome visitors to explore their organic farmland and browse their farm shop, dine in their award-winning restaurant and stay on-site in their holiday accommodation.
